Good evening, children of the Night.

This week we'll be pausing just south of Athens, Ohio, across the river, to take in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

We've got Sylvia Schultz this evening, so we'll not dwell here, too, terribly long.

We'll stop at Harris Steakhouse for a bit of chow.

Over dinner, we'll talk about a French explorer bearing a lead plaque,

declaring these lands property of King Louis XIV, and I'll point out,

we're talking about this in English, so that hadn't really worked out.

Also, we might talk to the locals about the Battle of Point Pleasant back in 1774,

which they'll tell you is the first battle of the Revolutionary War, and pretty much all historians will just tell you that it wasn't. But more recently, four teenagers visiting the McClintic Wildlife

Management Area, known locally as the TNT area,

which is also home to the U.S. Army's West Virginia Ordinance Superfund cleanup site,

happened to witness none other than the Mothman, sparking off a year of Mothman's sighting

stopping after the tragic collapse of the silver bridge into the Ohio River.

Later it would be discovered that three days prior five men digging a grave had seen the same strange creature.

Once we're done with our dinner, let's take a stroll down the street to see the mothman statue.

It's been a few years since I've seen this metal beast,

and the two-endie-way park with its great mural. On our way, let's hear from Sylvia Schultz,

and afterwards a bit of fiction. We'll have a longer show this week, so stay tuned.
