And welcome back to the Nook.

This evening, confusingly enough, will be your 107th, 108th, and 109th visit to this neighborhood in the District of Wonders.

And I want to thank you for foregoing what, until two weeks ago,

had been your more than two years of consecutive weekly slugs through the dark,

sometimes frigid, sometimes steamy, now and then feted and frequently empty, and during baseball season,

often drunk-teaming streets that bring you to the Nook's doorbell, Lawrence Santoro's doorbell,

that being me. Come, come in.

I am told that Chicago is experiencing temperatures in excess of 25 degrees lower than the norm for this time of year.

Ah, well, there is more and cleaner snow in the ground tonight.

There are probably fewer rats and coyotes to contend with at present,

so doff your wraps, scoop some treats, pour a warm beverage, and snuggle.

We have not a long one, but an excellent and varied evening ahead of us.
