Well, we've made it.

If you're listening to this on Release Day,

happy winter solstice,

the shortest, darkest day of the year,

for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, at least.

After today, each day gets a little longer, the darkness a little shorter.

"'The horrors of the crowds and chaos of the final weekend of holiday shopping aside,

"'this last week saw plenty of news about things to look forward to, or not, in horror over the next year

and beyond.

The one I'm probably most excited about, Gailmo del Toro's cinematic take on the kids' classic

scary stories to tell in the dark, which just set a release date of summer 2019.

Now, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say,

scary stories was probably one of, if not the first, true introduction I had

into the world of horror.

Elvin Schwartz's classic collection of folklore-inspired tales is unsettling on its own.
