Glamis Castle was built in the 14th century, and it's where the mother of Queen Elizabeth

II grew up. It's located beside the village of Glamis in Angus, Scotland,

and set in the Lolan Valley of Strathmore with a land of more than 40 acres. It has a reputation

of being extremely haunted by a number of apparitions. The lady of Glamis, Lady Janet Douglas,

was accused of murdering her husband by poisoning him and using witchcraft

to destroy the King of Scotland, King James V. She was burned at the stake in 1537 in Edinburgh,

though few believed her to be guilty of the crimes for which she was charged. She has been seen

running up the stairs of the clock tower, leaving a trail of ash in her wake.

But there's another female ghost, and has a face and mouth but no tongue. She lurks in the

parks around in the castle. But the most notorious ghost of the castle is the Earl of Crawford,

a nobleman who visited the castle in the 15th century. The story goes that one night

he got very drunk, and he demanded that someone among the other guests must play cards with him.

The Sabbath was fast approaching, and gambling was considered an inappropriate pastime for a holy day,

so there were no volunteers.

In response to this, the Earl declared that he would play the devil himself then.

It was not long after this declaration that a mysterious hooded man arrived at the castle,

dressed completely in black, and offered to play the Earl at cards.
