Summary

Deeannah Seymour never set out to become an entrepreneur. She was accidentally catapulted into entrepreneurship. After many rounds of antibiotics from chronic sinus infections, Deeannah was left with an unbalanced vaginal biome. Desperate for a solution, she began to search for a holistic product that was commercially available. Coming up empty-handed, she started to do her own research and stumbled upon boric acid. This led to the birth of her very first product and the founding of her company, pH-D® Feminine Health. At the time, Deeannah thought this would just be her side hustle. But after a moment of clarity, she leaned into her intuition and took a leap of faith. She left the security of her 20-year pharmaceutical job to go all in on pH-D® Feminine Health, forever revolutionizing women’s health. Deeannah’s goal from the beginning has been to remove the stigma surrounding feminine health and vaginal odor. Throughout the process, she has learned the ins and outs of business and now runs a highly successful multi-million dollar company selling her products in over 45,000 major retail stores nationwide. It's kind of, I kind of say that I'm an accidental entrepreneur, if you will.

0:40.9

But yeah, I would love to share my story.

0:48.9

So why accidental? What were you doing before? Yeah. So I spent 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry on the sales side of the business and really had my life planned out for me or so I thought

0:58.7

because I was a single mom of two kids and it provided me, you know, all the benefits that I needed

being a single mom, great health care, retirement benefits,

1:11.7

all of all of those things. And during that time, I had been on a lot of antibiotics for sinus

1:21.3

infections and actually ended up having two sinus surgeries. And, you know, as women, we know what happens when we're on antibiotics.

1:31.5

It completely disrupts our vaginal biome.

1:37.3

And I was looking for something that didn't exist.

1:42.6

And I was looking for a holistic alternative that was really effective

1:48.9

and couldn't find anything out there that wasn't backed by science. And I started researching

2:00.4

different holistic ingredients that worked for feminine care issues

2:06.7

and found this ingredient called boric acid and boric acid vaginal suppositories in particular

2:13.8

and found out, you know, it was highly recommended by OBGYNs and many OBGYNs

2:23.9

were using them, but they could only get them for their patients through a compounding pharmacy

2:28.9

and they were very, very expensive. And, I mean, let's to say, I used it and it completely changed my life. And it

2:39.6

just got me thinking, like, why is no one making this commercially? And that's when things got

2:49.2

set into motion for me to bring the product to market.
