Welcome to the Edge of Sports podcast. I'm Dave Ziron. Well, what can I tell you? We are not going to have shows for the next several weeks because my mom is sick. And that's just the reality of the situation. You know, she's got a great fighting spirit. But cancer does what cancer does. So we're going to have to see how the treatments go. The main thing

is that I'm taking the next couple weeks off to just be part of the process of trying to help

her through. And it's hard to think about planning and doing a podcast when that's the case. So

we're not going to have a pod for a hot minute. But that doesn't mean I can't give you a couple of takes before I go as long as I'm recording some stuff.

First of all, I just want to tell you that we've got some great guests lined up that I'm really excited about.

First of all, there's a young man named Devin Ashby who just wrote a book about Prince George's County and Montgomery

County football, like comparing and contrasting public high school football in the state of

Maryland. That might be only interesting to a small group of you, but hey, that's why I get to have a

podcast. I get to talk about the cultural, racial, socioeconomic differences between Prince

George's and Montgomery counties and how it reflects itself in the world of sports. Also,

El John Wertheim, the famous writer for Sports Illustrated, has been asking to come on the show

to talk about his new book about the year 1984, which centers the 84 Olympics.

Also, Matt Sullivan, who just wrote an amazing book that's published about the Brooklyn Nets.

He's talking to him about coming on the show.

Brooklyn Nets certainly in the news.

So there's ever so much for us to discuss.

In addition, I got some other stuff I want to share with you.

A lot of NBA news, of course, coming down the pike. And I just want to talk to you about that

real quick. I mean, first and foremost, I mean, Luca, Luca Donkich. He's amazing. Zion, Zion Williamson, he's amazing.

These are two players I love watching. And they're getting a lot of heat right now because

ownership is firing coaches or general managers or in the case of the Dallas Mavericks, both

because they're so tripping about whether Luca and Zion are in fact happy.
