| 0:40.0 | Gaitstone News, We Can Heal, my colleague and friend. And we go to Canada, Charles Burton of the MacDonald-Laurie Institute to help us interpret a report from Taipei, Taiwan and the capital city. |
| 0:51.0 | It's called Taiwan, the capital of Taiwan, these last days. |
| 0:54.0 | China's military simulated precision strikes against Taiwan in a second day of drills around the island, with the island's Defence Minister reporting multiple Air Force sorties and that it was monitoring China's missile forces. |
| 1:10.0 | Charles, a very good day to you. We can presume that this is in response to the threats that have been tumbling from the Beijing these last days, having to do with the visit of Tsai Ing-wen, the President of Taiwan, to New York, to Central America, to California. |
| 1:26.0 | We can presume that. Is there anything new here in China in the People's Republic of China's demonstration of their air and seed superiority? |

| 1:41.0 | Good evening. Well, I mean, certainly the Chinese are suggesting that this is an unprecedented exercise in surrounding Taiwan. |
| 1:48.0 | And, you know, we have indications that they are not just thinking about Taiwan, but thinking about how they would challenge supporting US forces. |
| 1:57.0 | You know, the Japanese have had to rally some airplanes up because they're been doing these exercise close to Okinawa. |
| 2:05.0 | Their aircraft carrier is 400 nautical miles off the coast. A lot of planes back and forth. They've had 71 fighter jets, half of which have impinged on the sort of understood line in the Taiwan Strait between Taiwan and China. |
| 2:23.0 | And the USS Milias has been engaging in freedom of navigation exercises in the area of the Spratly. |
| 2:32.0 | So, you know, I think the thing about it is that we just assume, oh, well, this is just a normal kind of gesture that China is making because Tsai Ing-wen on her way back from Central America, met with the speaker of the House in the Reagan Library in California. |
| 2:48.0 | And that Michael McCall, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, made some rather strong statements of support for Taiwan while he's there. |
| 2:58.0 | But I'm really wondering if China uses these as a sort of pretext to continue their preparations for war. |
| 3:07.0 | And so we were assuming that there's nothing much going on here that it's simply a gesture to try and express discontent, but it could be genuine planning for a genuine invasion of Taiwan that would have disastrous global consequences. |
| 3:23.0 | Where do you have a question for our colleague Charles? |
