Thanks for joining me, wherever it is that you get your podcast from.

We don't have a lot of hard and fast rules on Thunder and Lightning,

0:15.4

but one we've tried to keep through the years is if you're playing for a national title,

0:19.6

we're going to bring you on to the podcast. So with that being said, Coach Charlie Ewing, Mississippi State Women's Golf head coach joins us now. And coach, I think the last time you and I talked was, and I'm going to save you, I won't make the NCAA fine you. They can come after me if they want, but you were getting screwed when you got taken out of the regional a couple of years

0:38.6

ago for a quote, unplayable conditions. When you think about from that moment and the, and the

0:43.6

frustration you had to be feeling to where you are right now as a program, just sort of take us

0:48.0

through that journey. Yeah. Well, when you look back at, you know, the COVID year, you know,

0:54.0

a year prior to that regional being canceled.

0:57.3

And, you know, that's a season that's taken away from you. And then you get to that one regional and you work the entire year playing for that. It's taken away from you. And so then you get to a year like last year and this year. and being able to tee it up at a regional,

1:09.4

you know, like you've earned.

1:10.8

You know, you play the entire year for that tea time at a regional

1:13.3

to play your best at a regional, you know, like you've earned. You know, you play the entire year for that tea time at a regional to play your best at a regional to then earn the opportunity in national championship. But you get there and all of a sudden you feel a lot more grateful than you might, you know, just, you know, because you're supposed to play at regionals every year. Well, two years in a row it's taken taken from you. Then when you get back to it, you feel really grateful to be able to tee it up and you've earned that opportunity. So it's something you really just want to maximize and take advantage of and go out there and just really appreciate the opportunity to play. And whether it's Tallahassee like we did last year, Indiana this year. It's really cool to travel the country and playing NCAA postseason. One thing we talk about a lot on Sports Talk, Mississippi, and if you listen to that show, and I don't know if you do, but Richard and Michael are much bigger golf guys than I am. But we talk about the state of Mississippi as a golf state, and it feels like it's very underrated. You know. We have a great PGA event coming up in September

2:03.6

with the Sanderson Farms, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, both of their women's and men's programs

2:08.2

have done pretty well through the years. Is Mississippi a good state for golf?

2:12.8

Yeah, I think underrated is exactly the word. I think you look across the state and you see

2:17.3

a lot of really good players are coming out of the state of Mississippi.

2:20.6

You see it at the junior level.

2:21.5

You see at the collegiate level.

2:22.6

You see the college programs are having a lot of success.
