Summary

The Kansas Jayhawks were consistently inconsistent all season long and they were the same in a wild game against St. John's in the round of 32.  This game was ugly, painful to watch and it appeared KU would die without a fight.  Until they punched back in wild fashion the last 6:00 min only to be denied at the buzzer.  Now what for KU?    There were some other wild moments including Nebraska's crazy game as they advance and ISU rolling Kentucky without the Cyclones' best player.   The Royals have broken camp and have games in Texas against the Rangers Monday and Tuesday.    President Trump's weekend included putting Iran on a 48 hour clock and sending ICE agents to airports to take over security and get things moving.    The mad that slashed a woman with a knife at a park in Olathe Thursday is a three time loser in crime that keeps getting sent back out onto the streets.  And the victim, a music teacher, is named Jamie Trumpp.... it appears she's going to be ok.   Fireworks are back at Mt. Rushmore for America 250, Bill Maher questions how many people know anything and a couple actors lament the death of Hollywood on a podcast.

We have known all season long that the Kansas Jayhawks are consistently inconsistent,

0:19.0

and that played out against St. John's on Sunday as the Jayhawks

0:21.8

tried for the first time in four years to get to the Sweet 16, and it was a wild finish.

0:28.1

And a well-played finish the last few minutes. These teams looked like four and five seeds

0:32.9

that had a chance to make runs in this tournament. Both coaches, Hall of Famers, Rick

0:38.1

Patino, Bill Self, great defensive effort, sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. For an hour

0:42.8

and a half watching this game was like sticking bamboo shoots underneath your fingernails.

0:47.5

It was really hard to watch. And effectively, St. John's was the better ugly team than Kansas, but only because they were making more three-pointers.

0:58.2

They just became a volume shooting team. In the end, they would make 11 three-pointers in this game,

1:04.5

and that obviously was a big factor. Kansas would make a lot more free throws in the game, get to the line more.

1:10.2

They were different styles, but both defenses were really terrific all day long.

1:13.7

And both offenses, to be fair, when Rick Petino and Bill Self have teams that are four seeds and five seeds in the NCAA tournament, they clearly have flaws.

1:23.9

With Kansas, it's been an unable to execute more than 20, 22, 24 minutes a game on the

1:33.7

offensive end that has kept them from being a great team this year.

1:36.9

The games that they played against really good opponents where they executed offensively

1:40.9

and scored a bunch of points and played prettyer basketball. Boy, they looked like they could beat anybody.

1:45.6

But there were also games all over the place where it was pretty easy to take Kansas out of that

1:50.1

and get their offense in a situation where they would just go long stretches where they were lost.

1:55.1

They didn't know what they were doing.
