0:11.0	by the past couple episodes we've been talking a lot about the interconnectedness of nature and our gardens and our farms.
0:19.7	And of course, they're so interconnected as to not be separate at all but the illusion is
0:25.3	sometimes that they are and I think we get into this conversation of okay I
0:30.4	want to have an organic garden okay I want to Okay, I want to have a more sustainable home, right?
0:35.4	You get into food scrap composting, things like this.
0:38.0	And I don't know about you, Greg, and I think you share the same opinion, there's this third step that we're only now starting to hear about called regenerative or just that philosophy.
0:51.0	And I would love to get your perspective as someone who's had an urban farm for decades
0:55.6	now on what you think of sustainability versus regenerative practices. So I've studied this notion of sustainability as you can tell from our conversations
1:10.0	over the past few days.
1:11.5	I've studied it for a very long time. I designed my first
1:15.1	sustainable fish farm on paper. I still have that paperwork somewhere here where
1:20.5	because it didn't make sense to me back back then in 1981 I was on the Arizona
1:27.9	Aquaculture Association board we had an Arizona Aquaculture Association back then and so one of the things that we did is we visited fish farms around the state and one of the fish farms that I we visited was in Helabend, a desert area, and they were raising Tilopia there, and they were raising and harvesting the Tilopia in a sustainable way back then, but then what they did is they harvested the fish.
1:58.0	They cut the meat out, which by the way in fish is about 30% meat and about 70% everything else.
2:04.8	And they were feeding it to the wild animals.
2:07.5	Interesting.
2:09.1	Basically, they were just throwing it away.
2:10.9	And it was this asset resource that they spent time and money to grow and
2:17.0	you know that they were basically they were just throwing it away so that kind of spun me
2:20.8	off into this notion of what would a sustainable, and it's really not sustainable,
