On today's show, I have a very special guest. A very interesting book I read through and finished it yesterday.

The title of the book is Surviving Communists to Chinese Detention. And his name is Stephen Scherer, his last name is spelled.

S-C-H-A-E-R-E-R. Book was published May 2021.

And he goes into detail about what it's really like kind of being on the inside of the CCPs, China,

what they call the Middle Kingdom.

And so he has a lot of insight.

He speaks fluent Mandarin and has spent time there.

But he, like the title says, had a very unfortunate event.

So he can talk more about that.

It's a pleasure to be here today.

Thank you very much for the invitation and, you know,

taking some time to learn a little bit more about my story.

Yeah, no, really incredible, fascinating, heroin. Kind of reminded me of some other, like, Yeah, no, really, really incredible, fascinating heroin, kind of reminded me of

some other, like, nightmare jail stories or videos or a Turkish prison or something like that.

But for people who may not have heard your background, this is your first book is my understanding.

Can you talk about your background of what led you to China and led you to write this book?

Sure, yeah. So I like to start at the beginning, born and raised in California. That's home for me.

And what I did prior to landing in China was I was pursuing my degree in chemistry.

It's a Nova State University, so kind of like the North Bay Area.
