Hey guys it's me Brent so we were going to take a week off.

Travis is on vacation but I haven't left the country yet and a lot happened pretty much right after our last episode.

In fact, I have to give points to listener Martin S, who heard the last episode right after it came out Friday and tweeted quote

with trends like these taking a week off you can bet some serious shit is going

to happen unquote and Martin you were so right. So I figured I could at least throw together a little mini-sewed to cover some of it.

I'm recording this at 4.12 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017.

And yeah, so within hours of the release of our last episode last Friday, four big stories came to the foreground.

First, Trump's ban of transgender troops became official. Kind of.

Maybe.

You'll remember that about a month ago, Trump just randomly tweeted that the U.S. government

would not

in any capacity in the military because the military

could not be burdened with the tremendous medical costs

and disruption that trans troops would entail.

Well, let's review the facts.

By all accounts, enacting a ban on current and future trans members of the military would cost

significantly more than it would cost to provide them with the medical procedures they need and not kick them out of the military.

And by the way, let's not forget, the military provides health care to its employees

because they're the ones who have to put their lives on the line when our country's in trouble.

It's a pretty fair trade.

And there's no hard evidence that trans soldiers are any less effective or any more disruptive

than any other person in the military.
