Hello, my friends. I've got a bonus special for you this afternoon just because I had a great conversation with Bill Boyle for almost over, yeah, over an hour. I'm not editing any of it out. It was so good. I love talking to Bill. We covered the chaos in Congress, the update on Ukraine. We even talked about Taylor Swift's impact. And it's actually a thoughtful conversation. We talked about how the military has been watered down by the right to Nambi, Pambi, Woke, military,

types, I guess. Also have what I think is a pretty great conversation about the differing philosophies between conservative liberal Republicans and Democrats in America on a wide range of issues. I loved it. Always great talking to Bill. I love our conversations. And the feedback I get is that he's one of your favorites, which to me is one of the coolest things because this is not what he does. He's not a professional commentator, author or any of it, pundit, but yet he's one of the best. Maybe it's because he's got no skin of the game. He's a businessman in Washington DC.

I see that none of us believe is not in the CIA, but there really is no proof of it. And you know how I demand evidence. So if you have any, send it my way. gone live, you know, for subscribers or produced something special. And Troy Feltis goes, could you please call Bill, Bill Boyle and do a, can you talk real quick? So it took me a day or two, but you know, hey, listen, we're glad to have you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So you're, what did you predict was going to happen with the fight in the House Republicans?

That's a good question, because it's nice to talk about when you were wrong about something. And I predicted that McCarthy was going to survive. Yeah, most, most, most people were right. And the reason I thought McCarthy was going to survive is that in 99 out of 100 scenarios, all McCarthy had to do was give some concessions to the Democrats and 10 or 15 Democrats would have just voted present. They would not voted for him, but they would have sat on their hands and not voted against him.

And if a number of Democrats had just voted present, Gates's motion would have failed.

And what's fascinating about it though is that McCarthy didn't just not offer Democrats anything. He went on face the nation on Sunday and accused them of having tried to shut the government down by not supporting the CR that got us the 45 days extension to the budget battle.

What's insane about that is that Kevin McCarthy got that bill through by almost every Democrat voting for it and like about half of Republicans voting for it.

So Kevin McCarthy on Sunday was flipping the bird at every moderate Democrat in the entire Democratic caucus, basically saying, fuck you, get make me speaker and I'm not going to give you anything.

And that is just a wild scenario that I had never thought about, but I've since asked a lot of people about this. And

McCarthy's attitude was that Democrats didn't have a choice. And what he didn't realize was that Democrats don't buy into the idea that as

as a OC put it, they have to put pool noodles on every sharp corner for the Republican caucus, right? Like there's this idea in the Republicans, and I hear this from like regular Republicans, like why didn't the Democrats step in and keep McCarthy because the alternatives could be worse.

And for starters, that's not the Democrats fucking job. It is not their job to commit political malpractice by giving the opposition something for nothing.

Well, right? Like, and by the way, when the Democrats are we're talking about the Democrats wanting things. One of the things they want is a clean vote on Ukraine, which would pass with 300 votes, right? And

McCarthy wasn't willing to do that. And worse, McCarthy actually pulled the Ukraine vote out and attached it to an incredibly hardcore Maga border.

He McCarthy was actually making it harder to get aid to Ukraine. So like you're in this situation where I did not imagine this. I didn't know enough about this when it was leading up to happening. But

McCarthy really basically told Democrats to go fuck themselves. And so they fucked him. And and it's a really fascinating thing because

it tells you how delusional McCarthy was, whoever one thought of as a more

reasonable guy, it shows you how unreasonable he was becoming. And and it really

what's great about it is that it's creating a disaster.

And it's making people come to terms with what the Republican caucus really is. And and that is going to be bad in the short term.

It's going to be quite good in the long run because people need to and you'll see you probably just saw I just posted on Twitter that Jim Jordan is running for
