1:04.1	I am Brandon Chadwick, but my friends call me Chad, and thank you for showing up this episode.
1:11.1	So what is a narcissist, you may ask?
1:14.0	Generally speaking, a narcissist is a person who has an excessive sense of how important they are.
1:19.7	They demand and expect to be admired and praise by others and are limited in the capacity to appreciate others' perspectives.
1:27.0	And guess what? Not all our narcissists
1:29.3	are made equal. Yes, that's true. Narcissism is a character trait that exists on a spectrum.
1:36.1	A small amount of narcissism is healthy, and a person with an unhealthy level of narcissism
1:41.0	may be called a narcissist. At extreme levels, it may be diagnosed as
1:45.8	narcissistic personality disorder. However, for the purposes of this podcast, a narcissist is a person
1:53.0	who exhibits narcissistic traits and or a consistent pattern of maladaptive narcissistic behaviors
1:59.7	regardless of whether they meet the
2:01.7	diagnostic criterion in the latest version of the DSM manual or have a formal diagnosis.
2:08.2	So a person may be referred to as a narcissist on this podcast, even if it is more likely
2:13.6	they have another cluster B personality disorder, such as borderline, histrionic,
2:18.1	or antisocial personality disorder, so as long as they exhibit narcissistic traits or
