Welcome everybody to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy. I'm Father Chris. It's great to be back.

I've been traveling all over, doing visitations of our Marian houses, and it's great to be back.

I'm excited to be able to give this talk today. This is an important talk because while I have done a talk on the Bible in the past, a couple years ago,

I did the talk called Why the Bible is a Catholic book, totally different from today.

Today we are going to be summarizing the whole Bible, yes, if there is such a way,

and we're going to be answering the who wrote it, what it's about when it was written, why it was written, and how to read it. We're

going to cover all of that plus more, and so we're grateful that you could be with us. And let us start on this day of the exaltation of the

cross let us begin with the prayer in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit

amen heavenly father we ask through the cross of christ your son that we embrace what is given to us and through your mercy persevere.

And we ask that when we gaze upon Jesus on the cross on high, that we too will be lifted to eternal life.

And through the Holy Scriptures, may we find that path.

And we ask all this through Christ our Lord amen name of the father

and to the son and of the Holy Spirit amen okay so like I said we're going to answer who what

when where why and how all about the Bible today so God bless. We're going to give this a try. It's a whole new talk. I've never done before. And so glad that you could join us. So let's start with the how. I'm going to reverse that order. And we're going to start with the how. Now, there's a good article that I was reading. I combed through dozens and dozens and

dozens. It's not hundreds of articles and videos. And Chris Sparks found for me an article and the rest of

it. I was working with Brother Mark yesterday and I was doing some of my notes looking back.

We're going to start with this article as that understanding the Bible. This was by

Mary Elizabeth Speary on the USCB website. So you know that this is authentic with the church.

And it was talk about points in reading scripture. So now how are we to read the Bible? Now

this is something very interesting because the first thing we kind of do sometimes.

I do this too is I'll just read a passage, sit down, read a passage, and go on my way.
