What is going on everybody? Welcome back to the Mind Over Macros Podcast. As always, I am

0:09.0

your host Mike Milner and today I want to talk about the common traits that we see amongst the 5% of people,

0:19.1

yes that's right, 5% of people who successfully diet lose weight and keep it off for longer than three years.

0:27.1

These statistics are pretty staggering against the success of diet.

0:31.9

So like 95% of people fail at dieting. When we look at

0:36.3

how many people actually attempt to lose weight in their lifetime it's estimated

0:42.0

that six out of every seven people will make an attempt to diet and

0:46.6

successfully lose weight.

0:48.6

Now of those people, most of them, 95% will gain the weight back within three years and it's estimated that between

1:31.7

just like weight bias and weight stigma like does not work like if

1:36.1

we if all it was was just like shaming people into losing weight there is no

1:40.8

shortage of that in our society so that would be successful already

1:44.6

but current research shows that it is actually counterproductive and that's no

1:49.0

surprise now I like to look at the 5% when we look at successful dieters who maintain and sustain those results for basically longer than three years, but there's a lot of things that they have in common
