Bismillah, al-hambulil Allah and Salat and Salam on the Rassulah

and Allahehi and his a lahāliéhs.

This week or a few days ago, there was a lot of celebration in Istanbul,

fireworks and lots of celebration because they were celebrating

the anniversary of the conquest of Constantinople in 1453.

Every year around this time, they have massive celebrations.

Now, I've spoken about the conquest of Istanbul multiple times.

Today, we're not going to talk about 1453.

Today, we're going to go back in history.

We're going to go back to the first attempt in the time of the

Qulafa, in the time of the Sahaba, when they attempted to reach Constantinople, and they were

not successful in that attempt. We're going to go back to that time so that, inshallahua, we can derive

some lessons from that reality.

I want you to imagine the world in 600 CE, you know, 10 hijera, 5 hijera on this time.

Imagine at the death of the Prophet, Sallu al-Aleu'llah al-Aheu's-slam, the chulafas-dun.

How were they thinking about the world?

And imagine within their generation, not only did they conquer the majority of

superpowers around their time, the entire Sassanid empire, half of the Byzantine Empire, much of

North Africa, they began knocking on the capital of the world, which is Constantinople.

It is something that truly is worthy of respect, admiration, how in one generation, the same generation that the Quran came down upon,

the same generation that could not read and write that was worshipping idols,
