Today we have this question.

I keep hearing and reading that symbols are healing and transformative for people, but this concept is so arbitrary to me. I need some very

specific and concrete examples of how a symbol can help a person in the various dilemmas of life

we all can face.

Can you please give a few examples in layman's terms?

And for context, they write,

there are many areas of my life where I am stuck,

and when I read or hear that symbols can help,

I am so very interested in want to know more,

but then nothing specific is given to show what this really means.

Yeah, I mean, I think it's partly because you can't, you can't consciously decide,

I'm going to go get a symbol to help me work on this thing.

It kind of has to just happen, and I'll give you an example that comes to mine. And this is an example from a podcast

listener who we've gotten connected with. And in fact, we use one of his dreams in our book, Dreamwise. So this is actually an example that we discuss in the book dreamwise. So he's a

performer. He's an artist and the pandemic came along and it meant that, you know, he couldn't,

you know, he couldn't perform anymore. And he was kind of down on himself and telling himself he

had to go get a real job. And then he had this dream about a coy pond.

And he was instructed to go and get one of the coy and, you know, kill it for food. And when he

did so, it was, it was this just a horrifying thing. And it turned into, I think, an injured puppy.

It was very, very upsetting.
