Titus was Paul's choice to take the gospel to a very tough area. In fact, he went to

several tough areas to take the gospel. And Titus was, as we've been calling him, a spiritual

tough guy. He was singled out to be sent into some very rough areas to spread the gospel of Christ.

Went to Crete, Elyricum, Dalmatia, all places you really wouldn't want to go as a missionary.

Well, Paul sent him there to teach about the blessed hope.

But as we noted last week in Titus 1, 2, there is this almost strange statement where Paul says,

in hope of eternal life, which God that cannot lie promised before the world began,

and we asked the question, what does that mean before the world began?

And so we launched into a discussion of eternity.

When Paul wrote to Titus and he said,

speaking of eternal life, which God that cannot lie promised before the world began, we noted that what that really says in the Greek is before time began. Well, that raises a lot of questions. What does it mean

before time began? And to review slightly, time is that stretch of something that we can't define.

It is the past, which was the future just a few seconds ago.

Time, as you really look at it, is equivalent to what we would call a dimension.

And everybody knows what a dimension is, particularly in this age of sci-fi, dimension maybe

like a stargate, or maybe like having some kind of a handheld device that you could point at a wall,

and then just sort of open the wall and walk right through the wall into another place,

like the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe.
