Last week we looked at Isaiah 17 and Ezekiel 29.

Isaiah 17 talks about the destruction of Damascus and the invasion of a huge army.

Ezekiel 29 talks about the destruction of Egypt.

We discussed both of those from the perspective that as Scripture describes them, they look exactly like

they do today. They don't look like they looked 50 or 60 years ago. They don't look like the

Bible says things will look during the tribulation period. They look just like they do today.

And therefore, we think of them as contemporary prophecies

that will unfold in parallel with the regathering of Israel.

Isaiah 17, which we looked at in detail last week, talks about the burden of Damascus,

which is taken away from being a city and about to be made into a flattened heap.

And not only that, but the cities along the east side of the Jordan are going to be flattened

as well, according to this prophecy.

And then right after that, Isaiah 18, we have the prophecy about the rivers of Ethiopia.

Now that's interesting to me because of two things.

Last week we learned that at some point, and we believe prior to the full scale and full weight

of God's judgment on planet Earth, Egypt is going to be destroyed.

The damned up Nile, according to Ezekiel, is going to be unblocked, allowing floodwaters

to race all the way to the Mediterranean.
