Balaam's oracles were designed to curse Israel.

We went through each of the four oracles, concluding with the fourth, which has a prophecy

about Judah.

And out of Judah, of course, is going to come the Messiah, the ruler of Israel.

Judah means praise.

And it's kind of fascinating to me that the tribe named praise would be the tribe chosen for kingly service.

The idea of kingly service then we picked up in the conversation that's depicted in Acts 15 when there's a debate over whether or not the law

should be kept. And if you recall, there was a debate. Peter listened to the debate, and then

he basically preached a little bit of a sermon, salvation, by faith, through the grace of God.

And we read Acts 1513, and after they held their peace, James answered, saying,

man and brethren, hearken to me, Simon, Simeon, is his name.

That's Peter's name, his given name.

He was Shmion Bariona, and he was the man who had hearing. Shmion in Hebrew means hearing. Peter had a

remarkable ability to hear what the Lord said, and he had an equal remarkable ability to ignore

it after having heard it on several occasions. But James has listened to what

Peter said, and he said, Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles to take

out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets, as it is written,

after this I will return, will build again the tabernacle of. As it is written, after this I will return,
