We've been studying the words of Jesus now for several weeks, starting with his death, burial,

resurrection, then going back to the beginning of his public ministry, his rejection by the

Pharisees, the absolute proof that he presented that he was, who he said he was, they knew

it, they understood it. They pretended not to.

And then he addressed national Israel as a generation of vipers, serpents. And he said in Matthew 2436,

Verily I say unto you all these things shall come upon this generation, meaning all these curses. And then he said,

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, stonest them which are sent unto thee,

how often would I have gathered thy children to gather, even as a hen, gathereth her chickens under

her wings, and you would not behold your house is left unto you desolate.

So he rejects them in no uncertain terms, and then he has one parting shot, and we've

read this the last two weeks, verse 39 of Matthew 23, for I say unto you, you shall not see me

henceforth till you say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of

the Lord. That's Psalm 11826, the halel, baru habab, Hasham, Oronoi, blessed as he that cometh

the name of the Lord. That's the messianic greeting, and Israel did not deliver the messianic

greeting. At this point in time, we come to Matthew 24, which is, I think,

the centerpiece of the teaching of Jesus. You can go through the teachings in John and Luke and

so forth, but when you come to Matthew 24, you are looking at the centerpiece of millennial doctrine.

Now, the majority of the church today believes that there will be no millennium.

That is, a thousand-year reign of Christ on earth.
