Colossians chapter 3 this morning, we gather to study the Bible.

Why?

Why do we get together to study the Bible?

Why even get together at all?

I mean, we can all stay home, sit in a chair, and read our own Bibles, right?

And not have to go through the extra effort of coming to a central location

sitting in a chair that may not be as comfortable as the one we have at home what are we doing

here well I like to think of it as maintenance owing to sin and the sin nature and the structure

of every human being myself included perhaps at the head of the list, we need constant

tune-ups because we tend to drift away.

Left to our own devices, we tend to drift away from scriptural mandates into our own

habitual methods of living the old life.

And we gather together around the word as a kind of group maintenance, if you will,

a little tune up to make sure that we're sort of back on the same page. And you know,

today in Colossus chapter 3, that's clearer than it usually is. Now, the subject we've

been teaching on is the blessed hope, that is,

the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for the church. And when you touch on that subject, you have
