And now, here's Gary.

We are in the Olivet discourse so-called because Jesus is seated on the Mount of Olives,

at least in one part of this dissertation, probably at the peak of the Mount of Olives,

looking across the Kidron Valley to the Temple Mount, which was a 24-7 hustle and bustle

of activity.

People came from all over the world to the temple.

It was one of the wonders of the ancient world.

People traveled from all over to see it, not only Jews, but Gentiles, because of the structure.

The construction was fabulous.

Now it's just a pile of rubble, essentially.

But then it was a fabulous center of spiritual activity.

So Jesus is speaking from the Mount of Olives, which is a prophetically important position

because the Mount of Olives is the place to which he will return when he comes back again.

And we're going to look at that a little bit later as recorded by Zechariah.

Matthew 24.

Now we had gone through Matthew 24, 4 through roughly 35.

And we talked last week about the fig tree. The fig tree is typical of

Israel, also a symbol of Israel. It's both a symbol and a type, and it metaphorically represents

Israel. We looked last week at Jeremiah's prophecy concerning figs.
