And now, here's Gary.

It occurred to me in our study in Colossians that we've been doing, that that's

what Colossians is all about. Colossians is one gigantic New Year's resolution, recognizing in the

process that no New Year's resolution is of any worth whatsoever. But rather, life in Christ is the only thing that we really have.

Now, we all know that, but today we're going to review the things that we already know.

We're going to begin in Colossians chapter 2, verse 1. Reviewing just a little bit.

When Paul writes these epistles to various groups,

he's writing in the spirit and he's addressing the problems that people have

within that particular group.

And when he's writing to the Colossians,

he's writing to a bunch of worldly people

who tend to trust in their intellect.

And so in a way, the letter to the Colossians

is an anti-intellectual letter.

But we human beings love to do things with our intellect.

In fact, we're very proud of our intellect,

our ability to sit down and figure it all out and make plans

and to do all these great and wonderful things

that supposedly will bring us to a success point at some juncture.
