And now, here's Gary.

Last week, we looked at First and Second Timothy, the prophetic portions of those letters,

where Paul was talking about latter-day events, departure from the faith,

seducing spirits, doctrines of devils, people who routinely lie, people whose consciences

are, as Paul puts it, seared with a hot iron.

Amazing how accurate all that is in the light of 21st century society.

To review slightly, 2 Timothy 3.1, he says, this know also, then the last day's perilous time

shall come. Men shall be lovers of their own selves.

And I never miss an opportunity to talk about the fact that those perilous times

are described as seasons of ferocity in the Greek.

Seasons of ferocity.

Chairoi Halapoi. And in fact it's more than that, seasons of insanity,

because the term is translated perilous in the King James, 2 Timothy 3-1, is Chalipas.

It's used in Matthew 828 to describe the man who came out and challenged Christ on the shore

of the Sea of Galilee, the insane man who came roaring out.

Matthew 828, when he was come to the other side of the country of the Gurgocenes,

there met him, that is, met Jesus, too, possessed with devils coming out of the tombs,

exceedingly fierce.

And that's that term chalipas.
