What we've been doing is talking about watchful waiting.

Watchful waiting in a world that is progressively moving away from the idea of the

second coming.

New York Times used to have a typecase called the second coming type.

It was huge lettering, maybe eight, ten inches tall.

When they used to hand-set type, they would set these big letters for headlines,

and they had one case of type called Second Coming Type,

and the instructions were that it would only be used at the Second Coming of Christ.

That was interesting because that meant the editors of the New York Times

at that time used to believe in the second coming of Christ.

Well, they've thrown that type case set away, I understand.

They no longer have second coming type.

And in fact, they threw it away about 50 years ago, which I find kind of interesting.

The cry that Christ is coming says the world, it's a false hope.

Makes people sit still and do nothing because they're just watching the world get worse and worse

and waiting for him to come and rescue them. And the cry goes out from the liberals saying,

well, you ought to be doing something to make the world a better place. And the answer to that something is usually under the heading of teaching.

And on that note, we find increasingly secular teaching taking place from K through 12,
