But let's dive head first into strokes gained.

So first off, what is strokes gained?

This is a series of statistics that were created by the PGA Tour and Mark Brody and

launched in 2004. If you see the volunteers out there on the golf course and they are

shooting those little lasers around, that is called Shotlink and that is the infrastructure

in place to track every single shot that's hit by every player over the course of a tournament.

So you'll see them essentially plot the entire course, plot that hole.

We'll know exactly how far you hit the ball, how far away from the hole he is, all that good information.

And that shot link data is the basis of strokes gain so we're going to talk
