Gregory Coppley, my friend and colleague is in Perth, Australia. We go to London because of the issue now of the storm shadow missile, that

is in the possession of the United Kingdom, which intends, according to remarks by the

new Prime Minister Sir-Kir Starmer, to make them available

to Ukraine. Ukraine is asking permission to use those Storm Shadow missiles to strike

at Russian bases inside Russia.

Recently that was a debate when Mr. Starmer visited the White House

between Mr. Starmer and the President of the United States. The missiles are not American.

They're British, but Britain is asking for permission.

Gregory, this is a tangle of doubt and hesitation and response.

Well, it's playing heavily on the ignorance

of the new labor government in the United Kingdom.

Britain has supplied a number, quite a large number of these storm shadow missiles,

which were basically built as air-launched anti-ship missiles, but they have a good capability

against land targets as well. They have been used already by the Ukrainians in attacking Russian shipping in the Black Sea and

they are responsible, it is believed, for a number of Russian ship losses from its Black Sea fleet.

The missile itself is jointly developed in Britain and France

by a company called MBDA, which is a normally European brand, but stemming from

Britain.

The French call it scalp EG, which is a long-range autonomous cruise missile system, a general purpose, not nuclear
