Summary

On the last weekend of the summer of 1976, a young woman named Elizabeth Plunkett went away for a night with friends to Brittas Bay in county Wicklow. Nobody knew it then, but that was the last time she would leave home. Elizabeth was brutally murdered by two men who would go on to continue to rape and kill until they were stopped.

0:11.4	It was the summer in 1976, the best summer we'd had for years, and every weekend was a sunny
0:17.5	weekend. Everybody wanted to go to a beach. A group of friends, including a young woman named Elizabeth Plunkett,
0:24.6	left their homes in Dublin for a night away to mark the end of a brilliant summer.
0:29.6	Weekends at that time in British Bay, like that weekend, the place was buzzing with people from everywhere.

0:59.4	These were two drifters, English drifters, courier criminals, underwent for rape in Britain.
1:05.3	John Shaw and Geoffrey Evans had come to Ireland to kill one woman a week.
1:11.6	And in Cady Wicklow, Gawthie are still searching for Elizabeth Plunkett from Ringsend, Dublin,
1:15.7	who disappeared near British Bay on August the 29th.

1:28.8	A nationwide manhunt led to their capture,
1:31.4	but not before they killed a second Irish woman.
