Investigates on tonight show. I have a very special guest.

His name is Douglas Thompson. He's from the UK. And we're going to talk about a book that he wrote back in

2013, a book that came to my attention after doing another earlier interview about the

pro femo affair, or what's known as the pro femo affair in the UK.. The title of his book is Stephen Ward's scapegoat.

The subtitle is, they all loved him, but when it went wrong, they killed him.

And Mr. Thompson's also a prolific writer.

He has a number of other books.

He just published a book this year titled The Spitfire Girl,

An Extraordinary Tale of of courage in World War II.

Also, another title is The Hustlers, Gambling, Greed, and the Perfect Con, published 2012.

Secrets and Lies, The Trials of Christine Keeler from 2014, which overlaps with the subject matter of this book.

And then another is no handcuffs, the final war on

my war with the craze, the friends of Eddie Richardson, which was last year of 2019.

So again, this book is about Stephen Ward that ties into the Profimo affair. And if anybody has

Thompson, thank you for joining us. If you have, if you can tell people who may not be familiar with your background, can you talk about yourself and what led you to write this book?

Well, strangely enough, it began in America.

I was a correspondent in Los Angeles for 20 years.
