NATO has kicked off its biggest military exercise in decades.

The Alliance will carry out four months of drill

deploy forces from North America and elsewhere to reinforce Europe.

The largest NATO exercise since the Cold War is underway in the North Atlantic.

The most powerful military alliance on the planet is putting on a show of strength hoping that the Kremlin is watching.

Yet will it do anything to turn the tables in Ukraine where the war approaching its second anniversary has ground to a stalemate.

While NATO members are individually supporting Ukraine's war effort, NATO's writ stops at the Ukrainian border.

As Congress struggles to reach a deal to resume American military aid and a closely contested

election looms, there are understandable jitters among the rest of the Alliance about the US's long-term commitment

to European security.
