The war fighting in Ukraine is fog of war. We're told there's a large battle that could determine this or that direction.

At a place called back moot, however, I want to back up a little bit and say weapon systems are the news between battlefield reports.

And right now their speculation about Russia turning to its axis friends for more weapons Iran for missiles, for example, or lethal aid from China mentioned several times in these last weeks.

The US is hesitating. We're told to ship large weapon systems to Ukraine or at least put them in the pipeline.

That would be something called the ATACMS, a longer range missile that can reach into Russia and Russia's depots, the F-16s other weapon systems.

I don't want to make this an arsenal of democracy. I want to turn to the idea that the US is holding back.

And that is holding Russia back. I don't know. Is Russia not going to Tehran and China and saying give us all your guns?

Because the US could put in F-16s. What is your measure, Mary? This is a strange contest between those who say don't make us escalate.

I think these nations have found common cause and a common enemy, namely Europe and the United States and our friends and allies.

And the war in Ukraine may simply come down to that very fact of artillery and sheer willpower.

I think that Russia needs the help of A-Ran in order to keep fighting and needs the help of China in order to keep fighting.

Meanwhile, China and Iran see that conflict as a way to distract and weaken the US and Europe.

And so it's odd to me that you don't see an equivalent reaction out of the capitals of Europe and out of Washington to say, okay, let's surge in as much material and airplanes and anti-tank missiles and whatever else that they need to win.

Otherwise, this thing is just going to drag on.

As one of your guests said on the recent segment, John, World War I and World War II were in Vietnam, the Korean War were fought over periods of years.

And so this idea that is cropping up in our nation's capital that we can't tolerate helping Ukraine for more than a year.

Well, we did that to ourselves by not supplying them and wars do last can last for quite a while, especially if we take this strategy.
