Welcome to fantasy football today in five. I'm Chris Towers here with Dan Schneier to get you ready for week 17 with some start-sick questions and a look at the news from the day and we're going to do some start sick questions there we're going to take some start sit questions from the listeners and readers of the fantasy football today newsletter so uh man dan let's start off with the big news from thursday's practice reports. We'll start with the quarterbacks.

Lamar Jackson, excuse me, Jimmy Garoppolo and Jared Goff were all absent from practice on

Thursday.

Lamar Jackson had practiced on Wednesday, but by all accounts, including some video that we

saw, he was limping pretty badly.

So he didn't practice today.

I'm going to guess Lamar Jackson isn't playing based on that information.

And does that make Tyler Huntley a top 12 fantasy QB for week 17?

He's definitely a top 12 for me.

I think given the game script that Baltimore secondary is in bad shape, really bad

shape, maybe the worst in the NFL.

There should be a lot of opportunity for him to score points in garbage time and no huddle,

hurry up offense. And so he's a top 12 play for me for sure this week.

Yeah, I mean, he's not Lamar Jackson, obviously.

But the way they used him in his previous start in week 15,

it was a lot of the same stuff that Lamar Jackson does. It wasn't just, you know, him scrambling or running read option plays. They were running a lot of those like power run plays that you really only see like Lamar Jackson and Taysom Hill run. So that was a positive sign for him. And he kept the passing game really on time for a quarterback with such limited opportunities to practice with those receivers. I mean, that passing game was on time. Yep, yep. What about Trey Lance if Jimmy Garoppolo is out? Like it looks like he will be he's got that torn ligament and a fracture in his right thumb. Is Trey Lance a top 12 quarterback this week?

Another top 12 for me. I love these Konami code quarterbacks, these rushing quarterbacks because they have floor and upside due to their rushing ability. I think he's going to be a lot more prepared. They're going to have a lot more out for him in the playbook this week versus other start. And also he has all his weapons, the full compliment, Debo, Kittle, and Iyuk. So it's the best situation he's had since joining the 49ers.

And a pretty good matchup against the Texans. Does it hurt? Yeah, that rushing production should help Tray Lance out a lot. All right. At running back, there was no James Connor at practice today. There were some reports that he might practice today. But he was not out there on Thursday. He's dealing with that heel injury,

hasn't practiced Wednesday or Thursday now.

Is Chase Edmunds a top 12 running back?
