This morning I'll be playing an interview from 2016 with Dr. Monique Morris.

She'll be talking about the ways in which racism and sexism collide to criminalize black girls with a special focus on the ways in which they are

We were gathered around a fire pit in Whiteheath, Illinois. A lot of pretty country out that way.

There was a fire, food, kids, and dogs flying everywhere.

I assumed the role of a monster for the benefit of my nieces and nephew on the enormous outdoor trampoline. It was restorative in many ways.

My brother related a story about a police officer he knew and was conducting some business with he said the police officer was just furious about the impending end of cash bail in the state of Illinois.

Hearing about this police officer's rage was a perfect reverse barometer for me.

I allowed myself to become cautiously optimistic about the end of cash bail in Illinois,

which is a huge hardship for the poor and denies them their completely non-metaphorical freedom, that is to say it keeps them held in bondage.
