Summary

Folks, the Chicago Cubs are really good right now. Which is why we had to invite 404 Media's Jason Koebler on to talk about how much it sucks to be a fan of his team, the disappointing Baltimore Orioles. In the first half of the podcast, though, we talk about 404 Media’s excellent reporting on tech’s takeover of politics, the rise of Silicon Valley on the right, the newfound obsession over the R-word in those circles, and, eventually, if the pitch clock was a good idea.

Do you think 4-4 media can save us from our increasingly rapid slide into fascism?

0:59.7

Oh, yeah, that is, that's my favorite question to answer as well.

1:03.6

I don't think that we can, I don't think that we can stop it, but I think that we can inform people what is going on.

And I do think that we have been writing a lot

1:13.9

about how corporate interests intersect with our government at the moment. And I've been surprised to

1:21.5

learn that some corporations still have a bit of shame. And so, like, we've been reporting a lot about Flock, the automated license

plate reader company and how they have some of their customers who are local cops have been

1:35.3

collaborating with ICE and have been collaborating to find people who have been seeking abortions

1:41.5

and things like that. And I sort of expected flock to shrug

1:46.7

when we wrote these articles, but they actually cut off a lot of service for local cops who

1:52.2

were not complying with their rules and stuff like that. So incremental, less badness,

1:59.4

I guess I would say we're capable of doing at the moment.

2:04.9

And yeah, I think that as more and more people sort of start reading not just our articles,
