I recently had the opportunity to moderate a panel of leaders in the spiritual community at an event in LA called WITMA. One of the most intriguing of my panelists was a tall, dark, and incredibly straight talking man by the name of Shaman Durek. He stood out in the crowd not only because of his colorful, tribal fashion adornment but because of his zero f***s given approach to spirituality. His raw, tough love approach immediately struck a chord in me, and I knew the moment I saw him that we’d become soul brothers. And that’s precisely what happened.
Fast forward a few months to lots of texting, and one hell of a shamanic healing session at my house a month before this podcast was recorded. Durek came over to kindly offer one of his famous healing sessions, and what took place was about as close to the supernatural as it gets. Needless to say, I was not only impressed by his abilities to find hidden mental ghosts and emotional blockages within me, but I knew then that someday we would record one hell of a podcast together.
Well, it wasn’t long after that that Durek was back in LA (he leads a somewhat nomadic lifestyle), so we decided to make my home the location of our biohacking geek out session. The plan was at first to hang and catch up, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to capture our conversation on audio and video. Durek somewhat reluctantly agreed to let me basically wiretap our bro time, and create some genuine and unedited dialog.
What resulted was nothing short of magical. After doing a shamanic reading on my friend Elliot who happened to be at my house when Durek arrived, we proceeded to throw some mics up and not only record Durek as a guest on my show but also me as a guest on his show, Ancient Wisdom Today. Between the two recordings, we talked non-stop until 4 am. Way past my bedtime, but worth it in every sense.
