My conversation with Selena Zito, my longtime colleague, strikes me as revelatory of the East Palistine spill.

More than a month later, what we're looking at here is unknown risk.

Toxic, atmosphere, toxic water, an attempt to dispose of the soil and the water is not successful at this point as far as the people who live there are concerned.

Not only East Palistine, but East Liverpool, Ohio, where there's a disposable plant, disposal plant that's being used.

Selena talks of the people who are afraid to go to East Palistine, and maybe that will extend to other communities in the area.

I'm particularly taken by what Selena says about the animals and the birds in the area, more than a month after the catastrophe, more than a month after the so-called controlled burn that looked worse than the original spill.

As of two weeks ago, the Ohio Natural Resource Center said that over 45,000 animals have died because of this spill.

However, you have to wonder if birds are saying, hey, we're not going over there because that air and good or that water's not good or that grass isn't good.

Because there was a bird inside and in Western Pennsylvania, that is just completely unheard of, even in winter, there's cardinals and blue jays.

I'll let a little one on a warm day where you would see sparrows and robins and hawks and eagles. There was nothing. It's so quiet, it's like, it's very eerie.
