I'm David Knowles, and this is Ukraine, the latest. Today is another bank holiday in the

0:17.0

United Kingdom, so while we're not doing live updates, we've gone back through our email

0:20.8

post-bag, which is overflowing with your questions. As always, thank you so much for getting

0:25.2

in touch. We may only be able to respond to some of your emails, but we do try and read

0:29.4

every single one. To answer your questions today, I'm joined by our podcast regulars,

0:33.4

Assistant Comment Editor Frances Dernley, and our Associate Editor for Defence, Dom Nichols.

0:39.2

Bravery takes you through the most unimaginable hardships to finally reward you with victory.

0:49.2

smooth or rifled, but what about the issue of mines ahead of the Ukrainians will be minefields

1:25.8

for many kilometers. How do tanks deal with mines? Dom Nichols.

1:29.8

Thanks Colin, tricky one. I mean, mines aren't good at all for movement across sunny

1:35.4

pieces of ground, and so tanks don't deal with them themselves. They have other vehicles,

1:41.6

engineer assets, basically, that are based on tank hulls that go and dig them up, shove them

1:46.7

to one side, and as well as mines, these engineering assets cover gaps, rivers. They continue the

1:52.8

motion. So the first thing that you do when you look at a piece of ground from a soldier's point of

1:56.5

view is the engineers need to get involved to say, well, how am I going to safely cross that bit of

2:00.8

ground? And it's just worth touching here, almost happening in Ukraine. So in January, we saw
