Mark Meadows' late-game decision to stiff arm the January 6th Committee has laid bare the myriad of challenges facing the Democrats in their quest to extract accountability,

and perhaps a shred of contrition from the perpetrators of the January insurrection.

It seems that the closer the committee gets to the truth, the more furiously Trump and

his cohorts are throwing shit into a fan and try to muddy the landscape. Today, former President Trump's White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows,

he declined to appear for testimony that he had been subpoenaed to give this morning.

The investigation says that Mark Meadows is therefore likely to be found in contempt.

He's potentially going to be criminally prosecuted for contempt. But Mr. Meadows

ended the day today by suing the committee that's conducting the investigation and what

appears to be an effort to drag this thing out, to slow it down. Meadow said that he decided

to withdraw his cooperation after it was discovered the House committee sought his phone records and had subpoenaed third-party

carriers seeking his communications and texts from January 6th and the days leading up to the

insurrection.

He told Real America News that he considers these documents protected by executive privilege.
