Summary

Recorded 4/5/13

Roger Ebert was one of the great proponents of Star Wars and a teacher to the world of the language of cinema. Bryan was incredibly saddened to hear of his passing and had to put together a show that includes audio clips and read excerpts of Ebert's reviews of Star Wars and the impact that the world's greatest film critic left on us, the legacy of Star Wars, and the history of cinema.

Special thanks to Bryan Young for recording this show and sharing his thoughts and of course to Roger Ebert for showing us how to love and appreciate the cinema and also how to live, love what you do and succeed.

Full Of Sith is a safe haven for Star Wars fans, no matter what you like or what your opions are, we'd love for you to share them with us. Please do so by sending us a voicemail or email. Keep an eye out for a new episode on Monday morning.

Here to talk to you today about Roger Ebert.

0:39.7

As many of you may have heard,

0:41.3

that he passed away over this last weekend,

0:44.3

which was a great loss to film and just society in general.

0:50.9

I don't think people realize the impact Roger Ebert had.

0:53.6

I mean, for one, he was the first

0:55.7

film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize. And whether you agreed with his reviews or disagreed with him,

1:04.5

he presented them with such a passion and with such a fervor that you couldn't help but but be swayed by him or even if you

1:15.3

weren't swayed that the writing and the craft of his reviews whether they were written or

1:20.9

whether whether they were spoken just really spoke to you and I think over, many, many years that he did at the movies with

1:32.2

Gene Siskel or Ebert and Roper or Siskel and Ebert or whatever names the show went through over

1:39.6

the years, he brought the language of cinema to people. And for me personally, Roger Ebert over the years, he brought the language of cinema to people. And for me personally, Roger Ebert over the years

1:48.3

really helped me understand how to talk about film. And through the audio commentaries that he did

1:56.9

on movies like Citizen Kane or Casablanca, he really allowed me to see movies that I liked, and I wasn't quite sure I knew how or

2:06.6

why I liked them, but he, through his reviews and his commentaries, helped me articulate

2:11.6

what it was that I was seeing in the film that went deeper.

2:16.6

And Roger Ebert reviewed all of the Star Wars movies.

2:21.9

And with the exception of Attack of the Clones, I think they were all incredibly positive.
