was fascinated by these minerals, by these jewels, by the way that they look, she would take

them out and just hold them and play with them. And from what I know she said much later in life,

how she always believed that she was especially with her jewels, a custodian rather than an owner

of these objects that she appreciated their value and it wasn't out of, let's say like arrogance

or selfishness. She just loved jewelry and she had the means to her and Richard had the means

because he bought a lot of her big famous jewels. The most important piece of Elizabeth

owned was the Crop Diamond. It's an Asher Cut. That's a 33-carat diamond. The Crop Diamond was owned

by Vera Crop, who was part of the Crop family who had been involved in World War II. They had

supplied munitions to the Nazis. When Elizabeth got it, she just thought it was like really a big

fuck you to the Nazis, to the Crops. Now look at it. It's on a nice Jewish girl now. It was such a

beautiful diamond. I mean, I think she felt like it had been released and vindicated. It was

her really her signature piece. I'm not sure Elizabeth would say that, but she wore it in so many

photoshoots. She wore it every day, frankly. She wore it when she went to bed at night.
