Hello, Prestige Heads and welcome to American Prestige. I'm Danny Bessner, here as always with my friend and comrade, Derek Davison, and we are both very excited to welcome to the podcast today, Chris Myers-Eyesh, Chris Teachers History at Colby College. He's a D.C. native,

and we've invited him to talk about what's been going on with Trump, the police, the National

Guard, and all of that really frightening stuff in Washington, D.C. So, Chris, thank you very much

for joining us. I appreciate the invitation. So let's just start with an overall question.

What is going on in D.C., and you could take that in any way you would like?

Well, a lot's happened in the last week or so.

Of course, the president has declared essentially a state of emergency in the city.

He says that there are bloodthirsty criminals in his, in his

language, bloodthirsty criminals and, you know, wild young people roving the streets,

and that there's a crime epidemic. And he's using this as the pretext for federalizing the

city's police force and sending troops in to the city to

essentially go around asking for papers and identification. And in his mind, he's cleaning up

the streets, taking guns off the streets and making it safe for the good citizens of Washington,

D.C.

For big balls, right? That's what started this all, like the former Doge employee.
