Summary

This week we’re doing something a little different. I’m sharing part of an episode from Food Heaven (The Podcast) with Jessica Jones and Wendy Lopez.

Here’s a description of the podcast from Jessica and Wendy, “In the past few days, we’ve been hit up by countless publications, podcasts, and influencers asking us to be on their platforms to do a podcast interview, host an IG live, or have a conversation on racism. Oftentimes, these requests come with a ridiculously tight turnaround, which feels really inconsiderate. We’re human beings.  We have lives. Believe it or not, we’re actually busy. Also, there’s a lot of emotional labor and trauma involved in being vulnerable and sharing our experiences with racism.

PLUS! We’ve contributed to COUNTLESS articles (go to our press page) about inclusivity and social justice before it was trending.  We’ve also done so. many. podcast episodes on these topics (check our BLM highlight for some of the most recent episodes). The work is out there. If you have looked at some of the work, and still want to collaborate, make an effort to be more mindful about how you reach out + what your asks are.

In this week’s episode, we go in on why we’re frustrated and exhausted. But we also make sure to include some action items on what you (black, POC, white) can do to amplify black voices both on and offline.

After you listen to this snippet, head over to Food Heaven to listen to the full episode (and pick another episode you’re excited about, too). I know you’ll love Jessica and Wendy’s openness and honesty about all things wellness.

Someone DM me the other day and said, I know you're always talking about Buffy on the podcast, but would

0:05.8

you actually recommend them for my family's bedding? Yes, 100,000% yes. I told them I can't imagine

0:14.1

having another comforter on any of our beds ever again. I'm a little bit obsessed with Buffy.

Buffy's products are made of only sustainable

and recycled materials. Their breeze comforters are 100% plant base entirely made of eucalyptus fiber,

0:28.7

which is softer than cotton and uses 10 times less water to produce. It also makes it completely

cruelty-free. And their breeze comforter is actually very breezy.

It lives up to the name. My son runs extremely hot, especially when he sleeps. Pre-buffy breeze,

I would go in, kiss him good night, and this pillow and sheets where like someone spilled a glass

of water on them, he was sweating that much. And then I got him a breeze two Christmases ago.

0:55.4

And now when I go kiss him good night, there's no sweat. And I still am amazed how much this

breeze has worked. Since working with Buffy over the years, it's really made me think more about

1:05.5

our bedding, how I want bedding that not only feels good on our bodies, but is good for the earth

1:10.1

too. It can feel like a

1:11.7

small change to put our dollars towards products that matter, but I think it will make a huge

1:16.0

impact in the long run and just be less sweaty too. If you want to try Buffy for free and get

$20 off your comforter, head to Buffy.com and enter code one part at checkout. And when I say try it for

totally free, I mean that. If you don't like it, you can ship it right back. No questions ask. They

won't charge you. That's Buffy.com and enter code one part, O-N-E-P-A-R-T at checkout. When you go to the

checkout, they won't even ask you to pay. Just enter the code so you get $20 off once you decide to keep it. That's Buffy.com, code one part for $20 off your comforter.

Endometriosis isn't just about painful periods. It can be a complex and debilitating condition that affects everything from mental health

to relationships and careers, leaving many feeling helpless and alone. So I wanted to help, and I wrote a book
