called OZEMPIC.

The FDA approved OZEMPIC in 2017

as a treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes.

But because the drug can also lead to weight loss,

its popularity has surged among both celebrities

and the general public.

The spike in demand for OZEMPIC has even

led to shortages, and there have been reports

of diabetes patients struggling to access it.

So first today, I'm talking with Dr. Omar Awan.

He's a practicing physician, a professor

at the University of Maryland School of Medicine,
