So this is our last episode of 2017, so we're going to zoom out a bit.

Year one of the Trump presidency has made one thing very clear, which that the president has a pretty strong

belief about foreign policy.

Let me tell you, the one that matters is me. I'm the only one that matters because when it comes to it

that's what the policy is going to be. You've seen that you've seen it strongly.

So to a rather unprecedented

degree that's true. And we're going to dive into what that means for three of the

biggest stories in the world, for Iran, for North Korea, and China. But before we do,

let's start broad. I mean, Jen, what does that tell you about sort of the single sentence

Trump view of foreign policy, or as we see it, the single sentence

summary of how we see Trump foreign policy?

Yeah, so I think, you know, looking back, it's pretty clear that the Trump doctrine is speak

loudly and carry a small stick.

So I think you've seen him kind of pounding his chest and, you know, threatening to do all

these big, you know, to do all these big you know serious things like

tear up the Iran deal or you know really get tough on China and crack down on China
