spades and shovels. What is the difference? Is there a difference? And if so, which should you choose

0:14.4

when you're buying a new gardening tool this season?

0:18.3

So a lot of us think that they're the same thing.

0:20.8

Oftentimes, they are used interchangeably even in stores, so it's no wonder that you're confused.

0:27.9

The secret is there actually is a difference between these two products.

0:33.4

So the big difference is that they're just made for different tasks.

0:37.1

One really can't replace the other in terms of their use,

1:26.4

blade combined with the angled sharp point is really great for breaking ground and for scooping up dirt. You'll also find that

1:35.0

that blade shape will make it good for breaking up earth, kind of dechunking out

1:40.6

some really clay material, something like like that now when we move over to

1:45.5

Spades they typically have a flat rectangular blade kind of depends on the brand but the tip is flat and sharp instead of curved with a point.

1:55.7

If you compare the blade shapes, a shovel actually resembles the spade in a deck of cards,

2:00.5

actually more than the real spade does, which is kind of a confusing thing.

2:06.0

Spades are typically going to have shorter handles than shovels, which gives you more control when using it.
