This is CBS I on the World. Behind the Black, Bob Zimmerman is here. There is a new administrator nominated for the very important posts of NASA. His name is Jared Isaacman. He's a pilot. He's an astronaut. He's a spacewalker. He's a man for all seasons. And Bob Zimmerman, he keeps behind the black. Bob, you have recommendations for Mr. Isaacman. Good evening, too-evening.

Good evening, John. Yes, I wrote a long two-part essay this week outlining where I think

things are right now with America's Man's program and where I think, um, uh, Jared

Eisenman should take it. And actually and actually i think my my proposal here is

more a prediction because i think it's right in line with what he's going to want to do

there will be of course differences but the main point i make in this this long

essay and it's detailed so people want to really get educated on where

american space industry is right now as as well as NASA's man program.

It's a good essay to read behind the black.

I mainly make the point that I think the best thing Eisenman can do for the future is deemphasize this race to get to the moon in Artemis.

Bill Nelson, the head of NASA now now wants to beat the Chinese there.

And I don't think that's really that important because the Chinese are doing an Apollo-like stunt,

to land on the moon, plant the flag, and say, we did it. But that doesn't get you very far,

as we learned in Apollo. What you really want to do is have a really robust industry that has many capabilities

in space that makes getting there much easier and also in a manner that you can stay.

Because you've got the technology and the capabilities that have already been developed

to make that journey practical.

And so I say that the emphasize the race to get to the moon, you can keep it as your central

goal, but I say focus instead on helping to get the industry going in Earth orbit right now.

And he's already got a basis for that with the four space stations that are already

under development that NASA is encouraging, at these three of them of.

Use that as a basis.
