CBS I in the world. I'm John Bachelors from the surface of the planet Earth to

lower Earth orbit. And Devar, flight number four Bob Zimmerman, he keeps the

website behind the black to explain the success of the fourth flight of

endeavor. Bob what is endeavor and what is it done?

Endevar is one of the fleet of reusable spacecraft that SpaceX owns that

provides transportation into Earth orbit for NASA and for anybody else, the other

passengers. And so Endevar was launched today's goal. And early this morning

actually like the last of midnight in the wee hours, it docked with ISS

successfully and it just seemed to arrive about an hour because and this is also

because the nose cone to open late after launch. One of the sensors that's on the

12 hooks in the docking port of Endevar, these hooks are used to grab the ISS

docking port and pull the spacecraft into a hard dock. And so there are sensors

attached to each hook that tells the pool provide telemetry to tell them whether

it's open or closed, hooks are working. Well that one of the sensors on one of

the hooks, hook number five, was an orking and they had to make sure the hook

itself was functioning to get the nose cone open. And then when they got within

70 feet of the station, they had to upload software that would override the

sensor because if they visually confirmed that the hook was working. Now they

could see the hook and pictures and they tested it and it was working. So knowing

it was working, they had to override that software so that Endevar, which

operates autonomously, would not abort the docking. If it read the sensor and

the sensor said it had the hook wasn't working, it wouldn't dock. So they had
