Welcome to the Gardner's World magazine's Sewalong series, the podcast that inspires you to grow more from seed.

Thank you. Hello, I'm Lily and I'm a content creator at gardenersworld.com and I'm going to be talking about morning glory, heavenly blue. I garden on a small balcony in West London and it can be a challenge to choose what to grow on such a small space. I've had a number of failures and successes over the years, from a fern that was quite literally fried in the heat wave last summer,

1:53.0

Number one, it has to be quite fast growing.

1:57.0

There's limited floor space for my seedlings, on each thing as I can move from the living

2:01.4

room floor of my flat, also known as my plant nursery, to the balcony as quickly as possible.

2:06.6

Luckily it's a sheltered spot so this is usually quite easy and I do get away of moving

2:12.8

things outside earlier than you might in an exposed spot in a garden. And secondly, something that doesn't take up much room on the balcony, but packs a punch.

2:23.3

Morning glory heavenly blue does just the trick, and so I've loyally grown it for the past few years.

2:32.3

But it's not just the convenience that draws me to this plant.

2:36.3

It's the beauty of the flowers and the vivid green of the winding stems and leaves that

2:40.9

bring me back to it year after year.
